Welcome to all my visitors

I am pleased to welcome you to my blog space.  I am taking a course in Instructional Technology at the University of Trinidad and Tobago and you see I am now blogging on the web.

On this site I want to discuss how education is affected by how technology is changing the physical and man-made environment.  I am a teacher at a primary school and have had many years to observe changes but never the opportunity to write about my observations.

So expect to hear from me again.

Today I want to talk about the laptops that were distributed to the children in First Form Secondary Schools.  I cannot complain myself as I expect one of my children to be the proud owner of one of these devices soon.  But even in my school, which is recent, compared to the dilapidated Mt. Pleasant School in Claxton Bay, we have concerns about the use of computer technology.  The schools are simply not designed to have all of the children use computers at a time. Many changes have to  be made to bring all of these older buildings in keeping with the new policy to use computer technology more frequently in schools.

  1. the promise of the lap top computers the successful sea students, is an opportunity for a lot of children. it is rather unfortunate that the powers that be, did not prepare the infrastructure necessary for the implementing of the technology.

  2. while this may be so I want tosay that we must not limit the children and so let us do what ever is necessary to provide the environmemt to foster developmentof our children in the field of technology. nonetheless remember we are looking at the natural and mn made environmentand the ways inwhich man has impacted upon it be it negative or positive.

  3. In Trinidad & Tobago when we think about it realistically, what provisions are being made for the desposal of the computers that are no longer operational. Given that they are not biodegradable and the batteries contaminate the natural environment.
